Ff Dimmen

This project was developed for Highlight Delft festival, focusing on the theme “Do you see what I see?”. It explores how perception is shaped by multi-sensory input and how people often operate in an “auto-pilot” state. The outcome is FF DIMMEN, an immersive lighting installation designed to disrupt this state and increase awareness of bodily sensations and perception.

design approach.

The installation combines projection mapping with proprioceptive stimulation to create a controlled sensory experience. Visitors enter a dark space and stand on an unstable surface while dynamic 3D projections respond to their perception, drawing attention away from balance and towards vision. By strategically reducing and amplifying sensory input, the design reveals how dominant vision can override other senses, encouraging a shift in awareness.

value & impact.

FF DIMMEN translates academic insights on multi-sensory perception into an accessible public experience. By making visitors consciously reflect on their sensory processing, the installation fosters awareness, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of embodied perception. Its selection for presentation at Highlight Delft demonstrates its relevance within contemporary discourse on immersive design, where art, technology, and human experience intersect.
